Tim
Garlick has been in touch with an unfortunate update on
his Summer Nationals exploits.......
"Following
on from our recent news item we hurried the Rover mill
off to the boys at ICE to repair and get us ready for
both Doorslammer and Bug Jam events. Unfortunately, on
further inspection we have damaged just about every piston
which quite frankly is too much for us to ignore and will
prevent us from attending either events.
We now intend to take stock and with the continuing support
from ICE, try and modify the engine to address its constant
appetite for pistons!!
Many of you guys think I have probably lost the plot and
should have big blocked the car eons ago, but with the
time and investment we now have in this engine it is out
of the question, so onwards and upwards!!
Tim "

New
Sponsor for '06....
Super
Modified competitor Ian Marshall of Webster Race Engineering
has been in touch, and is pleased to announce an addition
to the Super Mod ranks for the 2006 season.......
"Centerline
wheels are to sponsor Sumo for the National Championship
in 2006, to the tune of 500 Dollars of vouchers for any
of their wheels within their range, the vouchers are to
be redeemed through Webster Race Engineering (UK dealers)
any vehicle wishing to be eligible must run 2 Centerline
decals on their cars throughout the season and are available
from me (I will bring them to the track for the first
meeting) I will also require a photo of the winning car
to send to Centerline ant the end of the season, so hopefully

Super
Modified Explained…
Got
a quick doorslammer? Want to go faster? Super Modified
too much of a mystery or plain too technical? Come and
join in or simply listen to the first ‘Super Modified
– Rules Explained’ morning on Saturday, February
11th.
The
morning will help attendees overcome any confusion over
engine and technical regulations, how they came about,
what they are there for, how they are applied and how
they allow doorslammers to produce over 1,000hp and run
way down into the 7-second zone to a very manageable budget.
Having
been adopted into the MSA White Book, the current rulebook
has been completely stable for the last couple of years
and it should be stressed that it will not be a forum
for discussing technical changes, rather an interactive
explanation of current hardware, basic data-logging techniques,
tuning and the relative merits of big and small block
nitrous and normally aspirated doorslammer racing.
The
informal meeting will be presented by Rob Loaring and
attended by Super Modified racers representing various
engine / chassis configurations to answer all of your
questions.
