Business as usual for Graham Ellis.

After very little seat time in '05, the National Finals marked a return to the Super Modified entry list for Graham Ellis. With Crew Chief Rob Millward and Kev Perkins doing duty on Steve Rawlings' Supra...and itching to beat him, Graham showed he'd lost none of his racing prowess with a final round victory over Tim Garlick.....

"Well what a year for Super Mod. Some highs and a lot of lows but we ended the season with a bang. I had decided to drive myself at the final meeting just in case anyone thought i'd forgotten how to. I had to let the team know I could still do as well as they have managed. I couldn't have done it without Rob Millward my long time Crew Chief and 'Johnny come lately' Kev Perkins. Along with Gareth I have an unbeatable crew who have all proved themselves more than capable of stepping up to the plate".

"Our first qualifying attempt was a bit of a weird one as my car seemed to want to take off, but with a bit or a peddle and a quick wrench of the wheel I got it down the track in a very creditable time considering the start line fiasco, ending up 4th qualifier with a 7.something".

"From then on it was business as usual. We of course noticed some sharp increases in performance (noticeably the Kirk Motorsport team with some solid 7.7s and Timmy the tiger with some jaw dropping ET from his peashooter), and made some small changes to deal with these as and when they were needed. I almost got bit in the ass when the lack of effort on my part culminated in some oil mist on the motor developing into a drip or two, which an eagle-eyed Ian Marshall noticed. II think he realised it wasn't serious as I know he would never have let me even stage if I was pi**ing oil onto his start line...Thanks Ian I owe you one."

"Next year, well I guess it will be time to get serious, at least at the AGM there cant be any calls for rule changes as there is under 1/10th between us now. I guess the 18 month old plugs will have to go......really, new 18 months or so ago....and I've ordered some stuff so I can get a clutch trace again, and some new EGT sensors to replace the dead ones as I can see we will have to be on the ball next year".

"Well chaps you've got all winter dream about beating me.....for some the dream could be reality , for others it will sadly remain a dream".

BRING IT ON..................G
