A step in the right direction for Kirk Motorsport

What started off promising to be another frustrating weekend for the Rat Fink team ended up giving them a light at the end of the tunnel. Andy Kirk takes up the story....

"Saturday of the Power Nationals & more clutch slippage, no change there then!! First qualifier and an 8.29, the second I shut off with yet more clutch problems. Saturday night was spent discussing the clutch woes when a phone call from Graham Ellis offering us a pair of his own clutch discs had us pulling out the transmission (again!). Although the setup wasn't ideal as we had to run our own clutch springs which were still too strong, Sunday saw the first round against Andy Hone. This time we spun the tyres to an 8.01 @ 170 to take the win, at last the clutch locked up!! Unfortunately the rain put paid to any further on track activity so we will have to wait until the Big Bang to try and progress any further."

"New discs and fuel system parts are on the way so watch this space....."

" Well done to Kev Perkins for the new record, and bad luck to Tim Garlick with more engine woes, get back soon mate. And finally thanks again to Kev and Graham Ellis for all the clutch assistance on Saturday."

Cheers,

Andy.
