Rob
Smallworth has been in touch with a brief review of the
year behind the wheel of his awesome yellow shoebox......
"Following
a pretty dismal start to the season, we found we had a
problem with a spun rear main bearing at Shakespeare County.
The decision was made to sit the rest of the season out
but then knowing how long the winter break is, I decided
to try and get out for the National Finals. This way,
I would know if anything needed to be done for the winter.
In stepped the assistance of Michael Wheatley, Managing
Director of STERILIZER TECHNICAL SERVICES. STS LTD validate,
service and provide breakdown cover for sterilizers and
washer disinfectors within the NHS, Private Hospitals
and Laboratories that require a second to none service.
They are a company that are happy to provide knowledge
and support for all makes and models.
STS have been of great help to me over many years and
can be contacted by mobile: 07801 957444 and office number:
02476 387948 as well as by email: stsltd1@aol.com
Following a great job by I.C.E. and, as usual, a last
minute thrash on my part, I managed to enter the National
Finals. We arrived at the Pod with still quite a lot to
do so with many thanks to Barry and Jim, we got to the
line for the first qualifier and pulled out a 7.71 off
the trailer. After some tinkering, we achieved a 7.69
to qualify number 2. In the first round, we ran a 7.65
but I red lit against Tim and that was it for the day.
So, with the great help from STERILIZER TECHNICAL SERVICES,
we go into the winter with some date and look forward
to the AGM on the 17th November.
Anyone wishing to come the SMRA AGM should contact the
Chairman and Championship Winner Andy Kirk for details.
Congrats to Andy, Barbara and Lee on their win and to
everyone in Super Mod for making it such a great class
to compete in.
See you all soon."

Smallworth has been in-touch with his account of the Auto

The
2007 season kicked off in grand style, as the Easter weekend
played host to Santa Pod's Auto Trader Easter Thunderball.
With personal bests and upsets aplenty, it was the perfect
kickstart to the new campaign. When the dust settled on
Monday evening, it was Andy Kirk's ©Rat Fink Camaro
at the top of the pile, although early indications show
this could be the toughest Super Mod season ever!

The
off season may only be a few weeks old, but preperations
are already under way to ensure that 2007 is the best
year yet for Super Modified. One of the competitiors that
will once again do battle in the Super Mod wars next season
is Paul Brooks. After crippling engine damage at the 2004
Thunderball, the Out-A-Time machine wil return next Easter,
although under the skin the Sierra will be bringing a
whole lot more to the table...........
