Kev Perkins talks SuMo.

"Look out, mung head is at the keyboard with fluency reminiscent of a chimp wearing boxing gloves and captain hooks eyepatch , anyway we’ll give it a go (better make a pot luv I may be some time)!!"

"When this class first came about my first thoughts were that this is how Pro Modfified should have started domestically back in 1989. By this I mean that in the earlier days it became apparent that Pro Mod was going to turn into a rich man's class very quickly, as those competing at the time will testify. The inevitable low car count came about just as Johnny Foreigner was stepping in with his fat wallet (hats off to those Brits still in it). Nowadays, although fantastic to watch , you have to be pretty well off to be competitive."

"The birth of Super Modified was a welcome return to affordable, heads-up doorslammer action with some well executed and thought out rules encompassing a host of different combinations. This makes for a very interesting and competitive class which I for one am glad to be involved in."

"As you are aware my initial involvement was with Danny Cockerill and the Rover Coupe. This was a very successful combination from the off, and it was he (as part of a deal to be his crew chief) who gave me my first ride in a Super Modified car (cheers mate, hope the wife got the stains out ok!). Danny sold the car and moved up to Pro Modified, so enter Graham Ellis (aka BLAKEY). It would seem that he was going to lay the Oldsmobile up for a year to start a business!

'Kin magic, what a guy!!" .

"Best not go into the first outing, in case those dreams come back again! Suffice to say the relationship between the team grew strong during the first year and has flourished ever since. Winning the championship in 2005 was the icing on the cake for us all and would like very much to do the same in 2006. Whats that I hear?......."Not if we’ve got a say in the matter" said the rest of the Super Mods! And that’s the spirit that will drive this class on for years to come."

"The racing so far this year has been excellent and bodes well for a tight run in for the championship. We have blown the dust of the jet box already and will have to be on our metal to secure the trophies for 2006. Well done to Rob Smallworth for being the first to beat us since August 2004."

" Thanks to Blakey for letting both myself & long time crewchief Rob Millward have a go in his car, and also on behalf of the class, thanks go to Rob Loaring for coming up with the rules, Mark & Geoff for their efforts making sure we comply with them, and ,also the class sponsors (see link on website) past and present for their support".

"See you at the next round,"
Kev.
