Membership Rules 2007

The SMRA invites all who enjoy Super Modified Drag Racing – Racers and their Teams, Race Fans and Sponsors alike to support the class through annual SMRA membership. We all recognise that there is strength in numbers and membership of the SMRA can only help to raise the profile of the class and the sport of drag racing in general.

The SMRA is a voluntary – non-profit making organisation dedicated to bringing awareness and support to Super Modified and Drag Racing as a whole.

Objectives: -

• To promote and represent Super Modified
• To unite and organise all Racers and interested parties
• To regulate the relations and provide a voice between racers and the clubs/promoters
• To ensure the integrity of parity and fairness in all SM Competition
• To be involved in any decision making process in establishing/making changes to the Rules of Super Modified
• To further the Class in the sport of Drag Racing

SMRA – Officials: -

The SMRA shall elect a Chairperson and Secretary on an Annual basis.

The electoral term shall run from 1st January – 31st December each year. Election shall be by a simple majority vote of full members. Elections shall take place at the final meeting of the racers calendar, which will be regarded as the AGM. Nominations for office must be submitted to the Chairperson 30 days prior to the election. Only current full SMRA members attending the membership meeting may participate in voting

No salary is received and there is no office for the purpose there – of. All officers either elected or appointed shall be classed as full members with voting rights. The officers shall meet as appropriate and communicate discussions that take place via the member’s newsletters.

The SMRA shall appoint a tech committee for representation at all appropriate meetings and to ensure that Super Mod rules are upheld at all times.

Membership Categories & Fees: -

SMRA Members fall into the following categories

• Full Members (Super Mod Racers only) £50.00 Annual Fee
• Associated Members (All associated and interested parties) £25.00 Annual Fee

Consultation - No changes will take place to Super Mod Class Rules or SMRA membership rules without consultation with all SMRA members.

Voting Rights - Full SMRA members have the right to cast a vote and fully participate in the decision making process around all SMRA issues

Applications for Membership: -

• Each applicant shall complete and sign an application form (available from the 'Applications' section).
• Each application form shall contain a declaration to be signed by the applicant agreeing and accepting the conditions of membership and abide by the rules of the SMRA.
• Each application for membership will be returned with the appropriate annual fee to the SMRA Secretary.

Conditions of Membership: -

• All full members must hold a valid competition licence

• Member's racecars must meet the racetrack inspection/MSA scrutineer requirements as well as Super Mod Rules.


• All full members must have passed scrutineering and tech inspection within 2 previous seasons.

• SMRA members will respect the rules of the track and promoters at all events

• The SMRA reserves the right to immediately and permanently revoke all membership rights and privileges from any member who is found to be under the influence of any illicit drug or alcohol while competing at any event that is designated by the Association. There will be no exceptions to this rule. Revocation of membership can occur when a member behaves in a manner detrimental to the good name of the Association.

• Each member agrees that the act of entering the Association shall constitute an agreement by him or her to be bound by all the rules covering the SMRA and Super Modified. He or she also agrees to be bound by any and all decisions of the SMRA or technical directors and to release said officers from liability for an alleged erroneous decision.

• All members must sign a form releasing the Association from any liability resulting from accident or injury incurred while participating in or attending any Association racing or social event.
